Weekly Roundup: June 14th

Hello and welcome to the weekly roundup where each Sunday we look back at some of the news items making the headlines over the past seven days.

On Monday it was reported that there were suspended sentences for impoverished Vietnamese nationals found cultivating cannabis

On Monday it emerged that a student, found with cannabis plants and a weighing scales, claimed he was part of “a hobbyist cannabis culture”

On Tuesday it was reported that a Polish national caught growing cannabis plants worth a potential €21,600 received a two and a half year suspended sentence

On Wednesday it was reported that a man caught with cannabis while on a suspended sentence has been jailed for three years

On Wednesday it emerged that 60 people were arrested across the country following a six month garda operation

On Thursday it was reported that a man had his sentence for possession of cannabis worth €400,000 reduced by the Court of Appeal

On Friday it was reported that a man has been jailed for four years following the seizure of €196,000 worth of cannabis at Dublin Airport

On Friday it emerged that a man has been jailed for eight years for his involvement in a €528,000 cannabis operation dating back to 2008

On Saturday it was reported that  a man caught with €370,000 of cannabis has been jailed for seven and a half years

On Saturday it emerged that three men have been granted bail after they were charged over a €1 million cannabis seizure in Dublin
