Weekly Roundup: May 17th

Hello and welcome to the weekly roundup where each Sunday we look back at some of the news items making the headlines over the past seven days.

On Monday it emerged that two brothers caught with €3.5m of cannabis were jailed for 10 years

On Tuesday it was reported that a man accused of having more than €2,000 worth of cannabis hidden at his home has had his case adjourned

On Wednesday it was reported that in Dublin over 7 million euro worth of drugs have been seized in Dublin since the start of the year

On Thursday it emerged that at least 13,700 drug users are availing of needle exchange services, according to the first study of its type in the country

On Thursday it was reported that Gardai had uncovered a cannabis growhouse in Athlone

On Friday it emerged that two men were involved with an operation which saw cannabis being thrown into the exercise yard at Cork prison

On Friday it was reported that cannabis plants worth over €150,000 were found in Meath

On Saturday it was reported that a man who claimed to be a heavy cannabis user was found not guilty of dealing drugs

On Saturday it emerged that four neighbours charged with having various amounts of cannabis had their cases struck out after making charitable donations
