Weekly Roundup: April 12th

Hello and welcome to the weekly roundup where each Sunday we look back at some of the news items making the headlines over the past seven days.

On Tuesday it emerged that Fine Gael’s Catherine Byrne said medically supervised injection centres would provide a “legal, safe and sanitised environment” for drug users

On Wednesday it emerged that Fianna Fail claims that stronger cannabis strains are putting teenagers at risk 

On Wednesday it was reported that two babes a week are born addicted to drugs in Ireland

On Thursday it emerged that a number of indviduals are challenging their cases in light of the recent legal fiasco around some drugs

On Friday it was reported that two men have been charged in connection with three drug seizures of cannabis plants worth almost half a million euro

On Friday an Irish Times article looking at the upcoming elections in Northern Ireland mentions that standing for election are four candidates from the Cannabis is Safer than Alcohol (CTSA) group

On Friday an Irish Independent an article looking at a family’s experience with Parkinson’s disease mentions that cannabis is not available here for helping with symptoms

On Saturday it was reported a man was given community service for drug offences including cannabis possession
